Jendela Kota Fringe Pillow
Lurik is a traditional Javanese textile that once held a significant role in society. The letter ‘i’ in lurik means small or dainty in Javanese, informing how the stripes in lurik fabric are traditionally less than one centimetre wide. Unfortunately, the myriad of stories behind the designs of lurik has been eroded by modernity as time goes by. This series is meant to reintroduce this priceless tradition into our modern-day living. Jendela Kota is woven out of minuscule details of cacahan or checkerboard patterns switching between two shuttles in one loom. The weaving along the linen’s hems is securely sewn with a zig-zag stitch and carefully frayed to add a fresh spin to today’s traditional taste. A perfect touch of the earth to your everyday home living. The base fabric is handwoven by pedal loom weavers in Ibu Lusi’s house, Sleman.
