House of Morphosis — from the Greek morphē (form), -osis (process, transformation).

From raw beauty to refined purpose: this is not a decoration studio, it is a spatial transformation studio, crafted in Bali.

Spatial, emotional and sensory: every material carries intention, every volume creates rhythm, and every silence becomes part of the experience.

The studio stands for rarity, precision, intimacy and permanence.

Luxury here is never loud. It is felt in proportion, in texture, in restraint and in power.

Our philosophy

At House of Morphosis, we believe that design begins long before a piece enters a space.

We curate with intention, looking beyond form to understand material, craftsmanship, origin and the people behind each piece.

Rooted in Bali and deeply connected to Indonesia, we work directly with selected makers, artisans and manufacturers, building relationships that allow us to know how things are made, where they come from and why they matter.

We visit the workshops. We study the materials. We meet the people who make them. We look at the details, the process and the quality behind the object.

Because for us, curation is not simply about finding something beautiful.

It is about finding something with character, integrity and purpose.

From large scale manufacturers with advanced infrastructure to small scale artisans keeping generations of craft alive, we search for the right balance between design, materiality, craftsmanship and endurance.

Every piece we select carries a story, of its material, its maker, its process and its place.

Curated by House of Morphosis.

House of Morphosis — Laura Canu, Creative Director & Founder

About

Laura Canu is the Founder and Creative Director of House of Morphosis. Over the past decade, she has led and contributed to high-end residential and hospitality projects within internationally renowned design studios across Europe and Southeast Asia. Projects she has been involved in have been featured in leading international publications, including Arquitectura y Diseño, Design Anthology, Amazing Architecture, ArchDaily, Dezeen, ELLE Decoration, and other prestigious design media.

Throughout her career, Laura has developed extensive expertise in furniture, materials, bespoke design and luxury procurement. Her work has provided privileged access to the headquarters, showrooms and manufacturing facilities of some of the world's most respected design brands, including Minotti, Molteni&C, B&B Italia and internationally renowned furniture and kitchen manufacturers.

Beyond the products themselves, these experiences led to long-standing relationships with internationally recognized designers, artists, artisans and master craftsmen, creating a trusted global network of creative talents and industry leaders. This unique ecosystem allows House of Morphosis to connect clients with exceptional creators and highly exclusive collaborations that extend far beyond conventional sourcing.

After relocating to Bali, Laura expanded this expertise by working closely with Indonesia's finest artisans and manufacturers, developing bespoke furniture, prototypes and custom-made pieces across wood, metal, natural stone and handcrafted materials. Over the years, she has built a trusted network capable of meeting the highest international standards while preserving the authenticity of local craftsmanship.

House of Morphosis was founded from this unique combination of international design knowledge, an international creative network and deep local expertise. Rather than imposing a signature style, the studio curates, develops and sources highly bespoke pieces that reflect each client's vision through exceptional materials, craftsmanship and thoughtful design.

True luxury is never about excess. It is about creating something that exists for one person, and one place only.

    Brief

Site · Client · Design intent

Every project begins with the place and the people who will live in it: the site, the way you live, and how the space should feel.

  2. 02

    Direction

    Concept · Moodboards · Palette

Before anything is sourced, a project needs a language. We fix one coherent direction (atmosphere, materials, references, light) that becomes the brief for every decision that follows.

  3. 03

    Design

    Interiors · Furniture · Built-ins

Interiors, bespoke furniture and built-ins, drawn with the architecture so that every element belongs to the space it serves. Every built-in piece is issued as its own technical sheet, drawn to be built.

    Curation

    Materials · Products · Art · Objects

Stone, timber, fabric and metal selected in person and tested as samples; furniture, lighting and objects researched, not picked from a catalogue. We only propose what we would stand behind.

    Strategy · Quotations · Samples · Orders

We don’t source furniture, we run a process: a sourcing strategy, the right makers from a network of more than 300, compared quotations and reviewed samples, then every order placed and tracked.

Craftsmanship × House of Morphosis

( Craftsmanship × House of Morphosis )

Every piece carries more than a form: it carries a place, a hand and a time. We choose objects the way we choose the people we work with, in person.

( 01 )  Our experience

A personal practice,
grown into a studio.

We do not treat Indonesian craftsmanship as a trend. We treat it as expertise: materials, techniques and knowledge held by generations of makers, given a place in contemporary interiors. Behind every name on a quotation there is a workshop, and behind every workshop there are people.

Our work begins long before a piece reaches a project: in timber yards, weaving workshops and factories, meeting the makers and testing their materials. We know where our materials come from and who shapes them, and how techniques that took generations to master can keep a future.

Selecting slabs at a timber yard

House of Morphosis grew out of the practice of Laura Canu, interior architect, designer and art director, from Paris and Mallorca to Lombok and Bali. Across Europe, she visited the factories and headquarters of the leaders of the market (Molteni&C, Minotti, Arclinea, B&B Italia).

In Indonesia, years of fieldwork followed: workshops visited, materials tested, makers met in person. We still go and see. Before we propose a piece, we want to know who is behind the name of a brand or a workshop, what their hands can do, and where the limits of a material really are.

( 02 )  Technique & precision

Selected at the yard.
Drawn in the studio.
Shaped in the workshop.

Timber is chosen at the yard, board by board, for its grain, its seasoning and the way it will age, and certified wherever the supply allows. Every piece is drawn in the studio with the wood in mind, so that the design follows the material rather than fighting it.

Then we follow it into the workshop, where it is cut, joined, turned, sanded and finished by hand, and checked at every stage. A slab becomes a dining table, a log becomes a vessel. Nothing is drawn that cannot be made, because we know the people who make it.

( 03 )  Tradition & craftsmanship

Craft as expertise,
not as a trend.

Weaving on a hand loom

Loom weaving, rug tufting, natural fibres sorted and prepared by hand. In the weaving workshops we work with, a single piece passes through many hands before it leaves the floor. These techniques have been passed down through generations, and they deserve more than to be copied.

So we work directly with the artisans. We preserve and reinterpret their techniques, find new uses for inherited craft, and design pieces that give natural Indonesian materials their place in contemporary interiors, supporting local production and carrying that heritage forward.

Makers finishing terrazzo pieces in a sunlit workshop

( 04 )  Made to be lived with

Poured, shaped and
finished by hand.

Stone, terrazzo, timber, fabric and metal are selected in person, tested as samples and composed into one palette with the fixtures and the light of each space. Every view of a piece is resolved on paper before it goes to a specialist workshop.

Terrazzo is poured, cured, ground and polished by hand, in workshops where the dust hangs in the light. Basins, bathtubs and vanities are shaped to the drawing, then finished until the surface is right, and chosen for the way they will age.

( 05 )  The network

300+

Suppliers  ·  Workshops  ·  Manufacturers  ·  Artisans

Not a database. A network built over years of field research: factory and workshop visits, material tests, and relationships that hold. More than three hundred suppliers, workshops, manufacturers and artisans, visited, tested and trusted.

We know the people behind the products, what each workshop can make, the limits of each material and the real lead times. Above all, we know the difference between a beautiful sample and a reliable production partner, and we stand behind what we propose.

We follow production where it happens, not from a distance. We choose the fabrics from the supplier’s own stock, check the frames before upholstery and the finishes before packing, and review every piece against the drawings and the approved samples.

One point of contact, one schedule: every supplier, order and delivery is tracked until the space is complete, from the first sample to the final installation. Research, not a catalogue. We only propose what we would stand behind, and we have seen most of it being made.

( 07 )  The last detail

Chosen to the last detail,
in person.

A hand-shaped black clay bowl with a raw rim

Objects, ceramics and textiles are the final layer of a project: chosen last, but never as an afterthought. They carry the identity of the people who live there, and often the hand of an Indonesian maker, from a workshop we know by name.

So we go back to the workshops and choose them ourselves, piece by piece: the weight in the hand, the texture of the clay, the irregularity that makes each one unique. Every object is made by hand, for one project and one place.
