Lajur Kereta Fringe Tablecloth
Lurik is a traditional Javanese textile that once held a significant role in society. The letter ‘i’ in lurik means small or dainty in Javanese, informing how the stripes in lurik fabric are traditionally less than one centimetre wide. Unfortunately, the myriad of stories behind the designs of lurik has been eroded by modernity as time goes by. This series is meant to reintroduce this priceless tradition into our modern-day living. Lajur Kereta is woven out of thinly striped patterns of lajuran. The weaving along the linen’s hems is securely sewn with a zig-zag stitch and carefully frayed to add a fresh spin of today’s traditional taste. A crisp choice to mix into your versatile tablescape. The base fabric is handwoven by pedal loom weavers in Ibu Lusi’s house, Sleman.
